Samsung i600 running WM6 - finally!

November 10th, 2007 Posted in Gadgets, Technical

The Samsung SGH-i600 can now be officially upgraded to Windows Mobile 6 Standard.

I went through the process with my unit, it worked well but there are a couple of steps missing from the instructions, which is always a little worrying.

WM6 runs pretty smooth on the i600, but there is no Java runtime, which for some people will be a deal breaker.

For me though, it’s all about battery life and the i600 sucks here I’m afraid. Charging a handset everyday is just not fun. I’m going back to my trusty HTC S710 which lasts a full 5 or 6 day - even with push email running 24/7. Awesome. If anyone wants an i600 mine will be on eBay in about half an hour….

Did you find this interesting or useful? Then maybe you could buy me a beer?
If you though it was rubbish or boring, then I’m sorry and you don’t need to bother.
